Exodus 33:8-9 (KJV) And it came to pass, when Moses went out unto the tabernacle, that all the people rose up, and stood every man at his tent door, and looked after Moses, until he was gone into the tabernacle. And it came to pass, as Moses entered into the tabernacle, the cloudy pillar descended, and stood at the door of the tabernacle, and the LORD talked with Moses.
All the people would stand up in front of their tent entrances whenever Moses stepped outside to the Tent of Meeting. Moses would be observed by everyone until he entered. The pillar of cloud would descend as he entered the tent and hover over the entrance as the Lord conversed with Moses.
The people waited patiently outside of their tents for the time when the tent would close around Moses. It was clear that within the walls of the tabernacle, wonderful things were happening. While their leader conversed with God as a man converses with a friend, the Israelites adored God from a distance.
There are moments when we can think that a great distance exists between us and God. Sometimes, it feels as though we are observing from outside our own tent as others enter into spiritual closeness with God. The good news is that God can hear our thoughts, wants, and even worries without us having to go to a special area or use particular words. Because Christ resides within us, our holy tent of gathering is only a whisper away.
He extends an invitation for you to freely approach him, sit in his presence, converse with him as you would a friend, and carry on that conversation while you go about your daily activities such as working and living.
